Attractive to birds because of the seed heads, Brown-eyed Susan is drought tolerant and adapts well to several hours of shade.

This perennial produces bright yellow flowers that bloom anywhere from June through October. It reaches heights of 3 to 6 feet and is distinguished by its hairy stems.

How To Plant Brown-eyed Susan Seeds:

Direct sow seeds into prepared soil in late fall once soil temps are below 50 degrees (usually mid to late November). Can also be planted in winter during natural freeze/thaw cycles and early spring. Plant shallow, no deeper than 1/8 to 1/4 inch deep and lightly rake to work seed in. Plant in full sun to partial shade. Can take two to three growing seasons to fully establish.
