Great Lobelia or Great Blue Lobelia is a native wildflower typically found in wet areas, woodlands and meadows. Covered in pale purple to blue flowers, it adds color and diversity to plantings.

For a lovely lobelia garden, consider planting this with Cardinal Flower (Lobelia cardinalis).

It attracts hummingbirds and is beneficial for many bee species and other pollinators.

Grows well in areas that receive at least 4 hours of sunlight a day. Have a shadier area? check out our Woodland Edge Native Seed Mix. A diverse mix of native grasses and wildflowers for the less sunnier areas of your landscape.

How To Plant Great Lobelia Seeds:

Direct sow seeds into prepared soil in late fall once soil temps are below 50 degrees (usually mid to late November). Can also be planted in winter during natural freeze/ thaw cycles and early spring. Plant shallow, no deeper than 1/8 to 1/4 inch deep and lightly rake to work seed in. Plant in full sun to partial shade. Can take three growing seasons to fully establish.
