A bright red, mid summer marvel that hummingbirds love!

Cardinal Flower is a shorter growing perennial native wildflower that thrives in mesic to wet soils. Pairs well in garden settings when planted with other wildflowers like Great Lobelia and Sneezeweed.

Typically found along stream sides, marsh areas and woodland clearings.

Look for Cardinal Flower in our Wet Wildflowers Native Seed Packet. A mix of 20 native wildflowers species that work well in areas with moist soil.

How To Plant Cardinal Flower Seeds:

Direct sow seeds into prepared soil in late fall once soil temps are below 50 degrees (usually mid to late November). Can also be planted in winter during natural freeze / thaw cycles and early spring. Plant shallow, no deeper than 1/8 to 1/4 inch deep and lightly rake to work seed in. Plant in full sun to partial shade. Can take three growing seasons to fully establish.
