Nodding Wild Onion - never did a name mean so much on a plant. Pretty pink flowers nod towards the ground and the whole native wildflower gives off an onion scent. Nonetheless, it is an important pollinator plant and attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.
With full sun, Nodding Wild Onion will reach 1 to 3 feet and blooms anywhere from June through August and prefers moist soil.
How To Plant Nodding Wild Onion Seeds:
Direct sow seeds into prepared soil in late fall once soil temps are below 50 degrees (usually mid to late November). Can also be planted in winter during natural freeze/thaw cycles and early spring. Plant shallow, no deeper than 1/8 - 1/4 inch deep and lightly rake to work seed in. Plant in full sun to partial shade. Can take 3 growing seasons to fully establish.
