Mimulus ringens is an obligate wetland species found throughout most of the United States and Canada.

Grows well in garden spaces where the soil tends to stay wet and gets full sun.

Why is it called Monkey Flower? It said that you can see a monkey's face in the flower. We'll let you be judge.

The lavender-flowering, sharp-winged plant has stalked leaves and a square winged stem. Seldom grows to 3 feet.

How To Plant Monkey Flower Seeds:

Direct sow seeds into prepared soil in late fall once soil temps are below 50 degrees (usually mid to late November). Can also be planted in winter during natural freeze / thaw cycles and early spring. Plant shallow, no deeper than 1/8 to 1/4 inch deep and lightly rake to work seed in. Plant in full sun to partial shade. Can take three growing seasons to fully establish.
