Virginia Mountain Mint may look similar to Narrow Leaved Mountain Mint, but prefers wetter soils and partial shade. It produces small white blooms attractive to pollinators, especially bees, and gives off an aromatic mint fragrance when the leaves are rubbed.

Found mostly in wet prairies and stream edges, it reaches heights of 1 to 3 feet and prefers partial shade. Look for it to bloom July through August.

How To Plant Virginia Mountain Mint Seeds:

Direct sow seeds into prepared soil in late fall once soil temps are below 50 degrees (usually mid to late November). Can also be planted in winter during natural freeze/thaw cycles and early spring. Plant shallow, no deeper than 1/8 to 1/4 inch deep and lightly rake to work seed in. Plant in partial shade. Can take two to three growing seasons to fully establish.
